We are all painfully aware that it is winter outside for most riders, especially in northern states.  While a few southern states enjoy the privilege of mild winters, and those lucky folks who live there can continue riding most of the year, most of us find our bikes, our leather, and our enthusiasm temporarily "mothballed" during this time of the year.

The sun has gone, and snow and ice seem to have taken over our days.

At this time of the year, many of us find ourselves working on our bikes, instead of riding them.  Instead of trying to budget for runs, rallies, and other biker events, we find ourselves counting costs for christmas gifts for friends and family, and budgeting for those gas-guzzling 4-wheeled beasts that we find ourselves confined to til spring.

It all just seems so dismal!

    But..... there is good news!

With the final days of 2014 in view, and the beginning of a new year just around the corner, most of us will begin watching for events schedules to start coming out for the 2015 riding season.

All of the "biker organizations" that sponsor and coordinate the events that we all enjoy, will be sending us information on their new goals for next year, as well as when and where their events will take place.  Soon, our riding calendars for 2015 will begin to take shape!

(And all those winter bike repair projects will take on a new sense of urgency!)

The NMRM Assoc. is also making plans for the coming year.  With the dedication of the memorial site behind us, we must now focus on the work that must be done to develop the site and begin the construction of the many features that will make this memorial a truly incredible place to visit.  All of this work takes money!

2015 will truly be a "Building Year" for the memorial.  Our focus for the coming year will be on building our membership, increasing our fundraising base, and turning our "vison" for the memorial site into actual construction of it's many features.

None of this can happen without the support of the motorcycling community.  We are actively looking toward individuals and riding groups and organizations across the nation to help us with this effort.  We need your help to raise the funds that building the memorial will require.  We need individuals who are willing to donate money (or time) to this cause.  We need our fellow organizations and riding groups to step up and dedicate just one event or activity, in 2015, to raising money for the memorial.  It doesn't matter if it is an afternoon benefit poker ride, an evening benefit potluck, or a weekend fundraising rally.  This memorial represents all of us, and we cannot hope to build it properly without the help of our brothers and sisters all over the country.  Remember, the NMRM Assoc. is a 501c3 non-profit organization, so all of your donations are tax-deductible!

The NMRM Assoc. is working closely with ABATE of Oregon to develop plans for the first annual National Black Ribbon Ride to the Memorial, which will take place early in the spring of 2015.  (Watch our events calendar for coming details SOON!!)  This event will truly be a celebration of all the lives of our fallen Brothers and Sisters across this nation, and of the many contributions and accomplishments of the motorcycling community as a whole.  We are working hard to secure and provide music, vendors, and activities that will reflect the importance of this event to all of us who ride, and we hope you will plan on joining us for this awesome celebration!.

If you are already a member of the NMRM Assoc., we hope you will dedicate yourself to reaching out to your fellow riders within your community and getting them involved.  If you are not yet a member, we hope you will consider joining us in 2015 as we begin the actual work of building the memorial.

    Happy Holidays to all!!

(Remember, there are only 106 days till Spring - March 20th, 2015 - Keep that bike warm and dry so she'll be ready when you are...)

Every NMRM Assoc. Member has real reason to celebrate.  On August 2nd of this year (2014), we held the official dedication and groundbreaking ceremonies for the new National Motorcycle Riders Memorial.

For the first time ever, the motorcycling community now has a national memorial to fallen riders!  Many of us have worked very hard to see this historic goal fulfilled, and WE DID IT!!!!

If you have not yet had the chance to visit the new memorial site on Hwy 19 (the John Day Hwy) in Oregon, it is definitely something you are going to want to put on your list of things to do in the near future.

Over a hundred people attended the dedication event and many reported that, after taking the stroll down the memorial roadway, they were left with goosebumps.  This site, (and this project) is as impressive as it is ambitious.  Even though the cleanup and preparation of the site has barely begun, our tour along the roadway was a memorable one.

We can all be proud of what we have accomplished in less than 3 short years.

But this accomplishment must not be the end  of our efforts.  It is, in fact, only the beginning!  We now have the memorial site, and it has been dedicated to every fallen rider in this country.  But the development of this beautiful site must now move forward.

It is up to all of us, the riders, to ensure that this project does not stall due to lack of funding or commitment.  We must work even harder now, and redouble our efforts to let the motorcycling community know what we have done, and what still remains to do.  We must continue our fundraising efforts with renewed enthusiasm, knowing that only proper funding will see this project completed.

There are major features of the memorial which will require much more funding than what is currently available.  The visitor's center must be built.  The on-site engraving equipment must be purchased and housed properly.  Areas along the roadway must be repaired, and other areas must be prepared to receive the bricks and other memorial media that is waiting to be installed.

The enthusiasm of the motorcycling community has been incredible, for this project, but we must now turn our enthusiasm toward raising the funds that will ensure that the development of the site proceeds smoothly and steadily.

The IRS has finally granted our 501c3 non-profit status, so all donations to the memorial are tax-deductible.  Hopefully this will encourage not only individuals, but also businesses, corporations, and other groups and organizations to donate more generously.  But WE must seek out these opportunities and approach potential new donors to let them know our needs.

The NMRM Assoc. membership is still relatively small.  This means that we must all work a little harder to continue meeting our goals.  We must continue to encourage our friends and family to become members and get involved.  We must continue to encourage the groups that we belong to, to support our efforts and help organize more fundraising events all over this country.  And we, as individuals, must take advantage of everyday opportunities to approach potential new donors and share our enthusiasm for this project, in the hope that they, too, will lend their support to this historic endeavor.

We have truly made great strides in a very short time.  Many of our early skeptics, who  thought it was a great idea, but doubted that we'd get it done, are now becoming new supporters.

I believe in the tremendous power and commitment of the motorcycling community.  I have seen the difference a few bikers can make toward a shared goal.  And I believe that, if we work together, we will succeed in creating a memorial that will touch the lives of generations of bikers yet to come.

I am ready to roll up my sleeves and get to work......  Are you?

I am challenging all the NMRM members to sign up one membership by the end of the month.   We need the membership count to go up ASAP. If all the members sign up one membership that will get our web site provider to add several services to our site and make it easier for us all in the long run. So please talk to people about the NMRM and help us inform the public about the newest icon for the biker community being build in Oregon starting this year. Starting with the Fossil Run on Memorial week end. Too short on time to get any kind of ribbon cutting ceremony, but the site is there and everyone is welcome to come visit what will inevitably become the newest thing on all the bikers "bucket list".  I see the future with the Memorial site becoming the new destination for all bikers young and old.
When you join this association of motorcycle minded people......... remember this is not a club, this an organization in service to every bike rider in the United States of America and that is one thing we are very proud to represent. Thank you for taking the time to read this and then begin to understand how important this is to all of us.
It has been said that this is the most important thing to happen for the bike riders of the USA since Easy Rider's 1st magazine issued in 1972. This is Awesome!!!  Join today.  Ride Safe.

If you are visiting our website for the first time, we want to offer our warmest WELCOME!

It doesn't matter if you followed a link from a facebook page, clicked on a link from another site, entered our address from a brochure, or found us through a google search.  What matters most is that you cared enough to come and check us out.
Now that you are here, we invite you to spend a little time looking around.
As you have probably already discovered, our home page has a lot of info about our organization, including the story of how the NMRM Assoc. was conceived.  The memorial that "started it all" (now referred to as the "Legacy Memorial") is still there.  If you click on the "legacy Memorial Pictures", or "Legacy Memorial Slide Show" tabs to your left, you can see how this site has helped to create the passion for a new National Memorial.
We would also like to invite you to visit our online memorial, under the "NMRM Online Memorial" tab to the left.  Adding names to this memorial is absolutely free to all of our members, and the memorial is open to viewing by everyone, whether they are a member or a new visitor here.
Our "events" tab is where you will find a listing of events throughout the riding season.  These events may be sponsored or supported by the NMRM, or they may be events sponsored by others, where we will have a booth or other presence.  We invite you to make a note of these events and stop by to see us. if you plan on attending.
The NMRM Assoc. is actively supported by a growing list of businesses and other organizations.  You can see a display of some of these businesses on our home page, or check out the listings on our "Supporting Organizations" tab to the left.  We encourage all of our members and visitors to patronize these organizations, and let them know that we appreciate their support.
One of the things that the NMRM Assoc. does, is help to secure funding for the placement of memorial bricks for fallen riders whose families and/or friends may not have the resources to purchase the bricks on their own.  Donations can be made to a specific rider's brick by clicking on the "Donate to a Rider's Brick Fund" tab on your left.  We also have a general fund that collects donations for use on any rider's brick.  The use of these funds is determined by the Board of Governors, and based on request and need.  Anyone can add a name to this list, by clicking on the "Donations" tab, making a small donation, and requesting that it be applied to a specific rider, named in the "comments" box.
We would like to invite you to join with us in the effort to build this memorial, by becoming a member of the NMRM Assoc.  You can join by simply clicking on the "Become a Member of the NMRM" tab, on the left.  Join as an individual (for only $20/yr), or join with a partner through our "couples' Membership pkg. (only $30/yr).
Your membership will give you access to our Members Only pages, and you can join in the discussions on our members forums.  Membership will also grant you unlimited access to enter all your fallen brothers and sisters' names into the online memorial.  As a member, you will also receive our bi-annual e-newsletter, which helps keep all our members informed and "in the loop" as to all the latest developments and advances in the creation of the memorial.  With your paid membership, you will also receive (in the mail) a "member" rocker (specifically designed to fit under our round NMRM patch) that will tell all your friends that you are an active part of the creation of this new National Motorcycle Riders Memorial.

We appreciate your interest in what we are working to achieve, and we hope you will join us in this effort!
See you soon, in the member forums!

To all our loyal members, supporters, and followers:
We are so excited to be able to announce that we have finally secured a permanent site for the National Motorcycle Riders Memorial!!
It was the goal, of the NMRM Board of Governors, to find a permanent home for this memorial within the first two years, and WE HAVE DONE IT!
On Dec. 4th, we were granted "Conceptual Approval" to place this memorial on a site in Wheeler County, OR.
(If you go to the "memorial" topic in our "NMRM main forums" - under the "members" tab - you will find pics and more information about the new site).
The NMRM, and every rider in this nation, has real reason to celebrate, as we bid farewell to 2013, and welcome in another new year.  But we need to firm up our resolve even more, as we enter the next phase of our goals and mission.  The real work is just beginning, as we enter into the development of this new site, and work to build a memorial that every rider - and their friends and families - can be proud of.
Your support, your enthusiasm, and your donations (of both time AND money!) are what has brought us thus far...
But now, we need you more than ever!!  Let us all resolve, in the new year, to give our best effort in spreading the news about the NMRM, supporting local events and fundraisers, and inviting our friends to join us, as we help to build the memorial!

A VERY Happy New Year to everyone and, from the NMRM Board of Governors, THANK YOU for everything you have helped to accomplish!!!

(To those who have already joined us as members, PLEASE remember that you can help us build the online feature of our memorial, by adding the names of those you have lost.  The addition of names to the online memorial is FREE to our members; all you need to do is click on the "Free online memorial" - under the members tab - and submit your rider's information.)

Did you know that you can donate to a person's brick?  This is a very good way to help the family of a fallen rider by assisting in the cost of an NMRM memorial brick.  On the main page of the NMRM website, there is a menu item called "Donate to a Rider's Brick Fund".  If you click on that it will list the current rider's who need assistance in obtaining a memorial brick that will be located at the physical memorial site.

If you are family or friends with a rider who you would like to memorialize, but need assistance with the cost of a memorial brick, then email the Webmaster at "" and ask to be set up with a Brick Fund for a fallen rider.
